Does the app work offline?
Yes. Browsing, search, the guided breed finder, the feed and water planner, the gestation and incubation calculator, side-by-side compare, the favorites shortlist, the care glossary, and the quiz all run on device with no connection. Only the optional Wikipedia and source links open outside the app and need internet.
What is the Daily Care Board?
Daily Care Board (Tools tab, new in version 1.3) uses the animal groups saved in Feed & Water Planner to generate a practical checklist for water, feed, pasture pressure, housing, behavior scans, and flock or herd checks. It can also be shared as plain text.
What is the Feed & Water Planner?
The Feed & Water Planner (Tools tab) lets you add animal groups — species, head count, and average weight — and see an estimated daily dry-matter (hay) need and water need for the whole group. It also shows a monthly hay tonnage figure and a rough pasture acreage gauge based on Animal Unit Equivalents. All estimates come from USDA and university extension service publications and are computed on-device. They are planning estimates, not veterinary or nutritional advice.
What information is shown for each breed?
Breed entries include origin country, breed purpose, mature size, productivity range, conservation status, temperament, and care notes for feed, housing, water, handling, social needs, and climate.
What are the Find, Tools, and Learn tabs?
Find is a guided selector that ranks breeds against your preferences. Tools holds Daily Care Board, the feed and water planner, the gestation and incubation calculator, and the side-by-side compare. Learn holds the care glossary (50+ terms including new nutrition and feed-planning definitions), the conservation-status explainer, and a quiz built from the catalog. Your favorites shortlist and notes are saved on this device only.
